277 Mins. and Counting: Red Bulls shut out again in San Jose loss

Things have gone from bad to worse for the New York Red Bulls.

Fielding a younger, hungrier side, the Red Bulls still found the same result, succumbing to an early deficit and dropping a 2-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes.

Fata Alashe opened the scoring in the 40th minute and Chris Wondolowski added the dagger in the 55th, beating Robles on the header.

For New York, this is the team’s third straight loss and third straight shutout. They last scored 277 minutes ago at the foot of Felipe Martins in a 4-3 victory over the Houston Dynamo on March 19th.

Behind the youthful and exuberant legs of Sean Davis, Tyler Adams and Anatole Abang, the Red Bulls once again set the tempo in the first half, but could not produce a solid scoring attempt. Without Dax McCarty, Bradley Wright-Phillips and Sacha Kljestan, the team produced just two weak shots on goal from Shaun Wright-Phillips and Felipe.

Meanwhile, San Jose’s lone shot on goal was all they needed for the lead.

A Shea Salinas cross from the left wing found the head of Wondolowski, who redirected the cross to Matias Perez Garcia on the right. The Argentine midfielder dished the ball to an oncoming Fata Alashe whose shot deflected off Kemar Lawrence and past Luis Robles for the lead in the 40th minute.

Looking for a second half spark, Jesse Marsch subbed out Tyler Adams and Shaun Wright-Phillips for Bradley Wright-Phillips and Sacha Kljestan. While Wright-Phillips did manage a shot on net in his first minute of play, it was once again San Jose with the clinical finish.

Like the first goal, Shea Salinas opened the attack with a dangerous cross, finding Wondolowski in space. This time, the Earthquakes striker calmly jogged between Connor Lade and Kemar Lawrence, nodding home the finish just ten minutes into the half.

New York took control of the attack and possession in the waning moments of the encounter, producing several chances, including a shot from Mike Grella that forced Bingham into a diving save. However, New York could not find the back of the net for the third straight match.

The Red Bulls’ road trip continues as they face the Colorado Rapids and Dick’s Sporting Goods Park this Saturday.

Now from the 33rd minute darkness fell upon all the land until the 90th minute. About the 90th minute, Slow Left Arm cried out with a loud voice, saying, “DON, DON, LAMA SABACHTHANI?” that is, “MY DON, MY DON, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?” And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, “This man is calling for Allocation Money or a Weighted Lottery to save his team.”…

Please tell me you didn’t stay up past midnight to watch this game, slow hahaha!!

Of course I did because I’m a real fan. Anyone can jump on the bandwagon when the team is playing well.

it’s a shame, it looks like Redbulls management is doing it’s darnest to make these franchise go belly up! what a shame!

Red bull was suppose to be a mess last year but they had a lucky run, since the east is weak.
The players rallied around the coach to show support but the truth is that their owner sucks, they need a rebrand and they are chivas USA 2.0 with steroids.
Something has to happen and once Miami and Atlanta come in with money and a real identity, red bull will look even worse.
Red bull has to rebrand or sell, besides getting some real dps around their ” youth academy stars.”
