United States Women’s International Team striker Alex Morgan has agreed to a six-month deal with French club Olympique Lyon.

Lyon has stated the deal has an option for Morgan to prolong her stay for a further season.

The 27-year-old American will leave NWSL side Orlando Pride in hopes to challenge herself on the field.

“To get to this level, you have to have a great deal of inner drive,” Morgan wrote in a letter on The Players’ Tribune. “And sometimes that drive just takes over. When it does, you need to go with it, or risk losing the very thing that helped to make you great.”

In her long and exciting international career, Morgan has made 120 appearances for her country, scoring 73 goals as well as winning an Olympic Gold Medal and a World Cup.

The California native most recently played for the Orlando Pride in the NWSL, where she made 15 appearances and scored four goals in the 2016 season.
