MONTREAL – New York Red Bull II capture a dominating 4-2 victory over FC Montreal on Saturday afternoon on the back of three goals from Brandon Allen. The win extends New York’s unbeaten streak to 10 games and keeps them undefeated on the road in 2016.

Brandon Allen’s fantastic performance cannot be understated as his three goals represent the team’s first ever hat trick and puts him into the all time lead for goals in Red Bull II with eight.

“We all know that Brandon Allen can score goals,” said head coach John Wolyniec. “Outside of the fact that he scored three goals, I still feel that it was one of his better games.

“He’s coming back into the game, holding the ball up, working on aerial battles, helping us win balls, working on his press, all of those things he was working on today. I think it resulted in him having a good, well-rounded game.”

A rainy first half saw both teams start with sloppy play. It wasn’t until past the 10th minute that New York took control of the game. Precise passing led to the game’s first breakthrough when Derrick Etienne’s cross caught the hand of a Montreal defender, earning a penalty kick. Brandon Allen stepped up to the spot and converted for his sixth goal of the season.

The scoring didn’t stop there. Confusion in the box following sustained pressure in the 24th minute saw a chance fall in front of Brandon Allen, who hesitated before burying his seventh of the season and second of the game.

Montreal fought back just before the half as a counter attack gave them their first goal of the game off the head of Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla. However, the second half continued New York’s offensive dominance. Just minutes into the half ,Junior Flemmings gave Red Bull II a two goal lead again after he finished a pass from Derrick Etienne Jr. The away side didn’t let up as substitute Florian Valot got into the action with an assist on Brandon Allen’s hat trick goal in the 69th minute.

New York will remain on the road next week and travel to Charlotte to play the one team that has handed them a loss this season. Motivation will be high and a solid performance this week will have John Wolyniec’s side feeling confident going into next week’s game.
