Argentina to face Ecuador at MetLife Stadium


Fresh off of World Cup qualification, Argentina and Ecuador will face off at MetLife Stadium on November 15th.

The game will be part of the Gillette International Soccer Series of friendlies which also includes a November 16 Honduras, Brazil encounter in Miami.

According to Argentina’s governing body, AFA, the team is expected to bring a first team side to New Jersey, including international superstar Lionel Messi amongst others.

“We are excited to bring another top-quality international match to the New York area,” said Relevent Sports CEO Charlie Stillitano. “We invite soccer fans across the U.S. to come out and be part of this marquee match.”

Argentina finished first in CONMEBOL’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers while Ecuador finished fourth for their third qualification in four cycles.

Both Ecuador and Argentina are no strangers to the New York soccer scene. The Albiceleste last played in the Tri-State area against Brazil June 9th 2012 at MetLife, beating their long-time rivals in a thrilling 4-3 shootout. Meanwhile, Ecuador beat Chile 3-0 at Citi Field on August 15th of the same year

Tickets for Argentina vs. Ecuador start at $35 and go on sale Saturday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster. Tickets will also be available at the MetLife Stadium and IZOD Center Box Offices beginning Monday, October 21 at 11:00 a.m. ET.
