Backe to the big screen; Former Red Bulls coach turns TV analyst

Hans Backe Suited UpThe assistants have found their homes. Mike Petke is now the Red Bulls boss. Jan Halvor Halvorsen is the coach of Bodø/Glimt in the second Norwegian division.

But what of Hans Backe?

The last we heard of the Swedish boss, Östers IF was considering him for their head coaching slot. Once he was passed for the position, it was radio silence.

Well, until now.

Backe is back … on TV. Prior to being hired by the Red Bulls, he held a role as adviser to Östers IF (where he carved a successful history for himself) as well as a “football analyst” gig for Swedish Television outlet TV4. He has now returned to TV4.

The former Red Bull boss will be making his return on February 6th as part of the analyst’s desk for the Sweden v. Argentina friendly. He will also take an in-studio expert position for all World Cup qualifiers, Europa League and Champions League matches as well as televised Ligue 1 and Serie A showings.

He must have signed a lengthy contract, as the network expects him to be a lead voice for the 2014 World Cup as well.

He will be part of a three person studio team alongside Swedish sports journalists Anna Brolin and Olof Lundh.
