The Portuguese Primeira Liga Champions are headed to Red Bull Arena.

Due to a scheduling conflict, FC Porto has withdrawn from their International Champions Cup friendly matches, making way for Benfica to feature in the United States.

“Despite agreeing to the tournament schedule and participating in the launch press conference on April 28 in New York, FC Porto has communicated its inability to participate in the 2015 International Champions Cup schedule and therefore has been replaced,” an ICC release detailed.

That conflict means the New York Red Bulls will have a change in opponent, with Benfica taking on the Red Bulls in Harrison on July 26th.
“We are very excited to add an incredible team like Benfica to our tournament,” said Charlie Stillitano, Chairman of Relevent Sports. “It is imperative that our clubs are committed to the tournament and it’s unfortunate that FC Porto will be unable to participate this summer. That said, we are thrilled to be able to add the current Portuguese champions as it fits within our goal to consistently feature the highest quality teams.”Benfica will play Paris Saint-Germain in Toronto on July 18, Fiorentina at East Hartford, Connecticut on the 24th, and against Club America at July 28th at a site to be announced.Benfica will be the sixth current domestic league champion participating in this summer’s tournament following Chelsea, PSG, FC Barcelona, Club America and the LA Galaxy.
