New York Red Bulls defender Roy Miller will have to witness Costa Rica’s Cinderella run through the World Cup from the stands
The Costa Rican Football Federation revealed Miller has picked up an injury in training and will be unavailable for the rest of the tournament.
Medical tests revealed a grade one pull in his left quadriceps which will force Costa Rica to sit him out from any training, long or short term. He picked up the injury while practicing penalty shots to end Friday’s training.
While a stalwart, standout defender with New York, Miller has mainly been a depth option for Costa Rica this tournament. He did, however, earn 90 minutes against England in the closing match of the group stage thanks to the team’s qualification in the second week of action.
Despite the injury, Miller will stay with Costa Rica for as long as their run in the World Cup lasts.
