Red Bulls’ Henry, Wright-Phillips lead MLS Best XI

Thierry Henry can take one final MLS accolade with him towards the next phase of his career.

The New York Red Bulls’ former captain was named as part of the league’s Best XI of 2014, taking his spot alongside MLS Golden Boot winner Bradley Wright-Phillips.  It is the third such honor in his four year MLS career.

Recognized as a midfielder, Henry certainly played the part of provider, leading the team to an MLS career best 14 assists and adding ten goals to his offensive tally.  Wright-Phillips was the beneficiary of several Henry assists this season en route to an MLS record tying 27 goal season.

Combined, the duo accumulated 37 goals and 16 assists in the regular season, leading New York to the footsteps of the MLS Cup before being ousted by the New England Revolution.
