The Carolina RailHawks are set to add a player of considerable experience to their list of attackers this week. Reports from sports broadcaster Fernando Fiore on Twitter and Neil Morris for WRAL Sports Fan state that Mexican international Omar Bravo will be unveiled as the club’s latest signing at halftime of their friendly with West Ham United on Tuesday night.

EoS can confirm Bravo’s arrival to Carolina – though our sources do not give a clear indication of the details of his unveiling. If Bravo’s International Transfer Certificate comes through in time, he could be available for selection by Carolina as soon as Saturday’s match at the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

With 132 goals through 380 appearances, Bravo is the all-time leading scorer for Mexico’s Chivas de Guadalajara. The 36-year-old closed out his latest stint with Chivas by scoring in the club’s win over Veracruz in the SuperCopa MX.

Bravo has spent the majority of his career in Mexico, but the striker also came to America to ply his trade for Sporting Kansas City for the 2010 and 2011 MLS seasons. He netted nine goals and made 29 appearances during that time.

In over a decade with the Mexican national team, Bravo accrued 66 caps and netted 12 goals, helping the squad to earn CONCACAF Gold Cup trophies in 2003 and 2009. Bravo is the second high-profile Mexican international to join a NASL side this year. Longtime Cruz Azul and Mexican national team defensive midfielder Gerardo Torrado was signed by the league’s Spring Season champion Indy Eleven shortly before the midseason break. Torrado has yet to make his NASL debut for Indy.

  • Gotham knight

Red bull, Chicago, sounders, should have gotten him with no DP cost or as a cheap dp.
He can easily be the #2 Mexican face of MLS. Only if MLS had a higher cap.

Loved watching him wrestle when he was known as Dino Bravo back during his WWF days.
