In the recent MLS Superdraft, the Red Bulls selected two New York natives with their second and third round picks: Ethan Kutler and Jordan Scarlett. Since then, both have been a part of the team’s preseason training.

Still, few had the chance to see either player in action. With that being said, EOS has reached out to the draftees recent university coaches for a statement on what to expect from each player.

This is what they had to say:

Colgate head coach Erik Ronning on Ethan Kutler:

“We are so thrilled for Ethan. It is a proud moment for him, his family and the program. This opportunity is a reflection of his hard work and perseverance over the past four years.

“Ethan is a gifted player. He is incredibly athletic, has great technical tools, and has a high soccer IQ.  His best is yet to come and I know the Red Bulls got a good one.”

Iona Gaels Head Coach James Hamilton on Jordan Scarlett:

“We’re going to miss having Jordan here at Iona. Not only was he a great defender for us, he was a great character to have around; what you see is what you get with Jay, wears his heart on his sleeve and plays that way as well! Never a dull moment that’s for sure.

“I know how determined and focused this guy is and I’m confident he’ll make the most of this amazing chance with New York Red Bulls. His coaches and teammates are all immensely proud and we wish him all the very best.”
