A pair of New York Cosmos attackers will be stepping onto the international stage in the final lead up to the upcoming North American Soccer League season.

Midfielder Andres Flores and forward Yasmani Duk have been called up for their respective nation’s next round of qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup. Both will be back in time for the Cosmos season opener on April 3rd against last year’s Fall Season champions, Ottawa Fury FC.

With 48 appearances to his name, Flores has been a regular for El Salvador since debuting in 2008, but this will be his first return to the squad since declining a call up late last year in order remain with the Cosmos for the NASL championship final.

El Salvador hosts Honduras on March 25 and will play the away leg a few days later on March 29. Currently sitting in third place of their CONCACAF qualifying group, El Salvador needs to surpass either Mexico or Canada at the top of the group to progress into the next round of qualification.

Despite having a few years on Flores, Duk is still new to the international game. The 28-year-old only made his debut for Bolivia last year, but he made a quick impression by scoring in the team’s qualifier against Paraguay in November.

Looking to make its first World Cup since 1994, Bolivia presently occupies the eight spot in its 10-team CONMEBOL qualifying group. The top four teams after the remaining 14 group stage matches automatically qualify for the next World Cup, while the fifth-place team will advance to a playoff with a team from another confederation. Bolivia hosts seventh-place side Colombia on March 24, with the away leg coming next week on March 29.
