Another important piece of the New York Cosmos organization will be returning under the team’s new majority owner Rocco Commisso. The team announced Friday that its reserve side, New York Cosmos B, will be taking the field for a third season in the National Premier Soccer League.

“Cosmos B focuses on finding and developing young talent to create a path for them to the first team,” Cosmos Coach and Sporting Director Giovanni Savarese said. “Our B team will continue to be a vital component of the organization and welcomes aspiring soccer players to register to our open tryouts.”

Players interested in trying out for Cosmos B have until next Friday March 17 to submit an application. The first stage of tryouts will be conducted on March 22 and 23, with the second stage on March 28 and 29.

Cosmos B, the 2015 NPSL champion, will compete in the league’s Northeast Region, Atlantic Blue Conference along with the Brooklyn Italians, Elm City Express, Greater Lowell NPSL, Seacoast United Phantoms and TSF. The NPSL season begins on Saturday, April 29.

No announcement on who will coach Cosmos B has been made. Unlike the senior team, Cosmos B will be staying put on Long Island, playing its home matches at the Mitchel Athletic Complex and Hofstra’s Soccer Stadium.
