Cosmos Copa Draw

One of New York City’s greatest and most highly anticipated grassroots soccer tournaments, the Cosmos Copa, returns this year pitting the ethnically diverse, soccer loving population of the area against each other for local bragging rights.

The field is now set to see who qualifies for competition.

The New York Cosmos held the annual draw Wednesday night. It included their largest all-time field of participating teams (28). These team’s were randomly drawn into seven groups of four. The top two teams from each group earns qualification for this summer’s event.

Last year’s eight quarter finalists – Bolivia, Colombia, Greece, Jamaica, Poland, Senegal, USA and returning champion, Haiti – receive automatic qualification.

The qualifying tournament will take place on June 22 and June 23 on Randall’s Island. The Cosmos Copa dates will be announced shortly there after.
