NEW YORK – Jimmy Maurer and Kyle Zobeck have company.

In an attempt to bolster their goalkeeping corps, the New York Cosmos have added former Philadelphia Union third string keeper, Brian Holt.  As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Brian has displayed both a positive attitude in training and good athleticism,” said Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese in a club statement. “He has good chemistry with the squad and adds depth to the goalkeeping spot.”

Holt, 26, has been with the Cosmos since their match in Hong Kong for the Lunar New Year Cup. He also featured against Ventura County and Sacramento in the club’s ensuing friendlies. As part of the Union roster, he performed in both of the team’s reserve sides — the Harrisburg City Islanders of USL and Reading United of USL PDL.

“Joining the Cosmos is an excellent opportunity for me,” said the Creighton University product. “I’ve been fortunate to travel with the team to Hong Kong and California and experienced how this team works and trains. I’m looking forward to helping the club in any way I can.”
