Cosmos re-sign trio, part ways with Nane

The New York Cosmos continued their offseason rebuilding process, resigning three of their biggest contributors while cutting their fourth player this winter.

Midfielders Sebastian Guenzatti and Hagop Chirishian join defender Hunter Gorskie as the latest Cosmos to sign extensions for next season.  Meanwhile, former Colorado Rapids destroyer Joseph Nane parted ways with the club after a mostly listless 2014 season.

Guenzatti, 23, has scored five goals in 32 club appearances.  His four goals were second only to striker Mads Stokkelien this season.  Gorskie, 23, served well filling in for injured defender Roversio through large swaths of the campaign.  He made thirteen appearances on the season.  Chirishian, 25, scored a pair of goals and netted an assist in just 14 appearances with the club.  His vibrant and creative play served New York well on the wing, competing for minutes with the more established Jemal Johnson, who saw his contract declined just last week.

Joseph Nane was one of the first building blocks of the club at the start of the 2013 Fall Championship season.  However, the emergence of Danny Szetela relegated the Cameroonian midfielder to bench duties then, and through 2014.  Nane, 27, made 32 appearances with the club since 2013.  He joins Jemal Johnson, Jimmy Nealis and Steven Diaz amongst the team’s departed.
