The New York Cosmos are once again dipping into their NPSL B-side to shore up the senior roster.

Following the path of Ruben Bover, Haji Wright and John Neeskens before him, B defender Kyle McTurk has joined the Cosmos first team.

“Kyle has proven himself in training sessions with the first team,” said Cosmos Head Coach Giovanni Savarese. “We are committed to providing a pathway for players that are developing in our club and we’re pleased to add him to the squad as we push for another successful season.”

McTurk, 26, is a Long Island Native who played for Stony Brook before joining the Cosmos B side. He made 71 appearances at his former college — 63 as a starter. He started 11 matches for the NPSL side at right fullback.

McTurk made his first team debut during this season’s friendly in Las Vegas against SD Eibar. Now, he will have a more robust opportunity to find meaningful opportunities at the senior level.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said McTurk. “I’m focused on working hard and contributing to the team any way I can.”

This is why Klinsmann prefers players from German third league rather than “homegrown”. Oooooooo, my belly!!!
