New York Cosmos take on CD FAS in El Salvador

CD FAS New York Cosmos

On the heels of their announced participation in the Hong Kong Lunar New Year Cup, the New York Cosmos have confirmed to EOS their plans for a preseason match against CD FAS in El Salvador.

The club will take on the perennial Salvadorian powerhouse on March 14th at the Estadio Cuscatlán.

CD FAS first broke the news early Monday afternoon.

The match will be a homecoming for Cosmos midfielder, Andres Flores. Not only is the El Salvadorian international the captain of his national team, but he is also an FAS product. He, along with international superstar Raul and Marcos Senna will be the big draws for the event. In fact, El Salvadorian reports are already billing the match, highlighting the participation of all three team stars.

This is just the latest breaking preseason news for the Cosmos in what is shaping up to be a busy offseason. Players report to New York in early February before taking off to Asia for the Lunar New Year Cup. They return to face CD FAS in El Salvador. EOS has also reported a possible friendly in South America as well. The Cosmos will round out their preseason training with a camp in either Florida or Arizona before starting their season on April 4th on the road against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

CD FAS visited Red Bull Arena last year as part of their participation in the CONCACAF Champions League. The New York Red Bulls ousted the Central American team from CCL competition.
