New York Cosmos cut ties with Peri Marosevic

The New York Cosmos look set to start their Fall Championship campaign with the same roster as they did for the Spring.

Well, almost the same.

EOS has learned that the team has cut ties with forward Peri Marosevic.

The 25-year-old Bosnian born striker and former number five pick in the 2009 MLS Superdraft struggled for minutes throughout the Spring season. In fact, he failed to make a single appearance for the club throughout the nine-game campaign.

It was a stark change for the former Toronto FC player from his previous year. He appeared in eight games during the Soccer Bowl-winning Fall Championship, earning six starts and scoring the very first goal in the modern era of the New York Cosmos. As the season progressed, and the lineup solidified, Marosevic found himself playing second fiddle to the likes of Alessandro Noselli, Sebastian Guenzatti, Diomar Diaz and former Cosmos player, Henry Lopez.

This season only become more difficult as Guenzatti solidified his spot on the right, and striker Mads Stokkelien lit up the scoreboard leading the front line.

  • Marcos Senna has returned to training after his groin injury.  His availability for this weekend’s Fall season opener against San Antonio is unknown.
  • The Cosmos extended the contracts of both David Diosa and Roversio this past month.

does that have anything to due with the possibility of signing raul you think?
