Following Alex Morgan’s shock move to France, another American star is set to make waves in Europe.
United States Women’s National Team winger Crystal Dunn has joined Chelsea FC until 2018.
Dunn, 24, previously played with NWSL side Washington Spirit, where she made a total of 58 appearances and scored 19 goals.
In an interview with ChelseaFC.com, Dunn discussed how the move to England is a necessary challenge.
‘It’s a big personal challenge for me but I am ready to take this next step in my career. Playing for Chelsea is a unique opportunity for me to take my game to another level and I think the moment is right,” she said. “I’m going to give my all. It would be a dream to play in the Champions League and I am ready to help out the team in any way. I’m excited to join my new team-mates and join forces with them.”
Before joining Washington as the first pick in the 2014 College Draft, Dunn played four years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
A New York native, the 24-year-old attacker has become a pivotal cog for the United States Women’s team. Since making her debut in 2013, Dunn has appeared in 45 matches for her country, scoring 18 goals in all competitions.
