The New York Red Bulls have officially announced the loan of center back Damien Perrinelle to New York Red Bulls II ahead of their match against the Wilmington Hammerheads FC on Sunday afternoon at Red Bull Arena.

Perrinelle has not appeared in a professional MLS match since his season-ending injury against D.C. United on November 1, 2015. The French defender will spend time with New York’s reserve side in the USL until he is fully fit for the first team.

The Right of Recall has been included in the loan agreement of Perrinelle, meaning the 30-year-old may be recalled by the Red Bulls at any time during the MLS regular season, depending on MLS roster compliance guidelines.

Since joining with New York Red Bulls in 2014, the 32-year-old has made 30 appearances in two seasons, including 27 starts and two goals.

With the recent injury of Ghanaian defender Gideon Baah, who was stretchered off the field in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against the Columbus Crew, New York will hope for a quick return and recovery for Perinelle.
