Bradley In, Besler Out, Dempsey Stays in Seattle Ahead of Brazil vs. USMNT

The United States has made three changes to the team roster ahead of Tuesday’s friendly with Brazil in Boston the U.S. Soccer Federation announced on Sunday.

Michael Bradley headlines the list of players called into camp, accompanied by Stanford University’s Jordan Morris and Chicago Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

These three replace Matt Besler and Willaim Yarbrough who have retuned to their clubs.

“We were impressed with Matt Besler this past week,” said manager Jurgen Klinsmann. “We definitely saw what we needed to see from him as we prepare for the Mexico clash and Sporting KC badly wanted him back for Wednesday, so we agreed to send him home.”

Missing from the list of reinforcements is Clint Dempsey, who was expected to join the team in Boston, but will remain with the Sounders to recover from a hamstring injury.

“I had a good conversation with Clint,” said Klinsmann. “He’s still not 100 percent and we agreed it’s best to let him stay with Seattle to allow him to continue making progress ahead of next month’s match against Mexico.”

With the lineup set the United States can continue their preparation for the Brazil friendly on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 8 PM and can be seen on ESPN2, Unimas and Univision Deportes Network.
