False alarm New York Cosmos fans.

After a rather listless performance against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, Real Madrid legend and current Cosmos superstar Raul Gonzalez made an early exit in the 53rd minute of the match with what he labeled as “discomfort” in his hamstrings.

Tuesday, the Cosmos reported no significant damage to the veteran striker’s legs, clearing him to practice this week.

“We’re expecting him to train tomorrow,” head coach Giovanni Savarese said during his weekly conference call. “He’s fine.”

According to the Cosmos’ boss, MRI results revealed “something very light, very minimum” in the hamstring area, but nothing too significant as to disqualify the Spanish legend from selection for this weekend’s clash at the home of Indy Eleven.

The Cosmos took home a victory on the road against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers to open their Spring campaign, riding a goal from Philadelphia Union loanee Leo Fernandes towards the win. Their home debut follows this weekend’s Indy Eleven clash, increasing the likelihood of Raul’s debut in front of the Cosmos faithful.

New York’s home opener comes this April 18th as the Cosmos host heritage rival, the Tampa Bay Rowdies, at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium.
