The New York Cosmos will face a test of their depth in Week 1 of the North American Soccer League’s Spring Season, which begins on Saturday at Puerto Rico.

Midfielders Andrés Flores and Richard Menjivar, and forward Irvin Herrera will miss the match after receiving call ups to El Salvador’s national team for a pair of friendlies.

El Salvador will first travel to Curaçao to face the island’s national team on Wednesday and play Olimpia of Honduras next Sunday. The exhibitions will serve as tune ups for this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup. La Selecta was recently drawn into Group C of the tournament with Jamaica, Curaçao and Mexico.

New York’s three Salvadoreans all helped their country clinch a spot in the Gold Cup as part of the team that finished third at the Copa Centroamericana earlier this year. While wearing the captain’s armband, Flores provided the assist onHerrera’s goal in the crucial 1-0 win over Nicaragua.

With 58 appearances for El Salvador, Flores has the most international experience of the three players. Menjivar is the closest to Flores with 38 appearances and Herrera has 13 caps.
