EOS Picks: New York City FC End of Year Awards

New York City FC fans left 2016 with a bitter taste in their mouths, falling hard to Toronto FC in their first playoff series in franchise history.

But if you look back at the big picture, it’s hard to label the year anything but a success.

Facing the uncertainty of entering the 2016 campaign with a strikingly similar roster and an MLS novice at the touchline, NYCFC defied the odds. Not only did they hold command of first place in the Eastern Conference throughout most of the campaign, but they did so while showing a dogged determination and nuanced approach to their tactical stance on the field to earn victories.

From Patrick Vieira to David Villa, the team exceeded expectations on their way to a memorable season.
