EoS Picks: New York Red Bulls End of Year Awards

Was 2016 a failure or a success for the Red Bulls?

That depends on your perspective.

Do you celebrate their ability to go unbeaten in 21 matches? Their consistent play throughout the year? Their choking offense? Their team identity?

Or do you simply look at their early ouster against the Montreal Impact as their defining moment, thus casting a shadow on the entire campaign?

You wouldn’t be wrong from either point of view. Yes, the Red Bulls have become an annual standard of excellence in the Eastern Conference. However, that ever elusive MLS Cup continues to evade them at every turn.

Come 2017, the building blocks are still in place to make something great happen. Will it? We will find out in time.
