NASL expansion side Miami FC continued its bold roster building efforts with the addition of Argentine-Croatian forward Dario Cvitanich. He joins 31-year-old joins Honduran midfielder Wilson Palacios as one of Miami’s standout international signings for its inaugural season.

“Dario is a welcome addition to our team,” said Miami FC Head Coach Alessandro Nesta. “His experience in the CONCACAF, Argentinian, and Dutch leagues make him an exceptional forward for Miami FC. I’m looking forward to working with him as well as our other great players to have this team come together on the field.”

Cvitanich began his career as a teenager with Club Atlético Banfield in the Argentine Primera Division. Through six seasons with Banfield, Cvitanich earned nearly 100 appearances and tallied 37 goals.

Cvitanich made the jump to Europe after the 2008 season and joined Dutch giant Ajax, where he made 30 appearances and scored 13 goals. While at Ajax, the forward was loaned out to Pachuca for the 2010-2011 season and back to Argentina with Boca Juniors in the following season. His loan spell with Pachuca saw the club claim the CONCACAF Champions League title.

At the conclusion of his contract at Ajax, he moved on to Nice in France, where he scored 32 goals in three seasons. Cvitanich returned to Pachuca for a short stint during the 2015 season.

“What’s exciting about this team is that it’s a blank slate,” said Cvitanich. “There is so much opportunity for growth and development and that’s why I believed The Miami FC would be a good a fit for me. Working together with Nesta and my teammates to bring this team to life is something I’m ready to invest myself in.”

  • Miami looking more and more real.

Meanwhile, except for Samaras, things have been quiet on the Cosmos rumor front.

Miami FC owners are already proving to be a great addition to the US soccer scene. Sadly, I can not say the same about Rayo OKC owners. They are already proving to be a irresponsible club owners for the Spanish Rayo club where I have large doubts that NASL team will be successful. Miami FC is already making signings while I have no clue what Rayo is doing. Maybe if I look at their NASL web page…. nothing. There is nothing about them signing players for the Spring season. Maybe I need to wait until the January transfer window. X(
