Fans poke fun at the Cosmos’ NASL Final plans with #BiggerThanBelson

It isn’t just New York Cosmos fans that are disappointed with the team’s plans for the NASL Final.

The Cosmos announced St. John’s Belson Stadium will be their site for the NASL Final if they advance past Rayo OKC this weekend. That would be the same 2,600 seat bumpy pitch Belson Stadium the team has used to some success for U.S. Open Cup competition.

But while the stadium is acceptable for the early rounds of the Open Cup tournament, it hardly dignifies the honor of hosting the league championship — no matter how you spin it.

And that fact has prompted fans to speak out.

Late last night, fans of the Cosmos and NASL took to Twitter to poke fun at the team’s plans with the hashtag #BiggerThanBelson.
