
Though Red Bull fans like to speak of the decrepit conditions of RFK Stadium, the only form that looked to be in near collapse was the New York defense.
A 4-1 route of the Red Bulls at RFK exposed all the major deficiencies long masked by an explosive offense. Their central defensive pairing was weak without Wilman Conde. The bench depth failed their first true test of the season. The midfield struggled to gain ball control. Mental lapses and errors were capitalized upon. In the end, New York was left exposed with only a litany of questions in hand to answer for their performance.
There was a lot to be learned this evening, but this format restricts me to only five lessons. Here is what EoS got out of last night’s dominant United victory:
