THE KING OF COMEBACKS

It has to be said; Rafa Marquez enjoyed a masterful game.

From his 9th minute feed at the feet of Thierry Henry to his pestering work in the defensive midfield, the Red Bulls enigmatic Designated Player was worth every penny of his $5 million last night. He was a constant disturbance, a pesky presence and a distributive force for New York, giving everyone a quick reminder of just how devastating a force he can be when inspired to do so.

Now, this isn’t the first time Rafa has come back and put in a stellar performance; his Red Bull history is littered with tremendous comebacks followed by inexplicable setbacks.

One thing this continues to prove is this; when inspired, no one on the Red Bulls roster has the unique skill set of a Rafa Marquez. If New York can somehow hone that into a continuous asset, they will add yet another lethal wrinkle to an already deadly offensive machine.
