AN ACHILLES HEEL
As impressive as the result may have been, it is clear that the Red Bulls are a slow-out-the-gate side. Lucky for them, they have enough fire power to make the U.S. Armed Forces quiver.
But how sustainable can that be come playoff time? Thierry Henry has some doubts about it.
“I don’t know what I felt to be honest. I was like ‘Wow, again.’ I don’t know what it is with us, we don’t start well in the games and somehow we come back into them every time,” he said. “But you know you can’t do that when playoff time is going to be around. At the end of the day that’s my concern is what I was saying after the game on TV. What’s annoying me is the way we start games and the opportunity that we give although I thought at times today we played well, better than we did against Portland. But you don’t know sometimes you might not be able to come back. We are coming back most of the time but that’s one of my biggest concerns.”
A pair of goals against in a two game set could be the difference between advancing and playing golf. New York has the talent to overcome these deficits, but as Henry said – you need to be less giving come playoff time.
