GRANDE GAUDETTE!
Nearly a month ago, EoS conducted a poll asking you, our readers, if Meara should still be the starting keeper upon his return and if it was right that he would lose his starting spot due to injury.
A whopping 73% threw their vote behind Meara while 53% said he shouldn’t lose his starting spot.
I wonder how that poll would look today?
As I wrote about on Soccer By Ives, Bill Gaudette has been light’s out. Once again, he made some key saves to keep New York in a match they had no right coming back from. His heroics earned him man of the match honors and a further notch to an already impressive tally of victories which will surely press the rookie Meara upon his return.

Backe is still not sold on Cooper. Or perhaps Henry told Backe that he would rather play with Le Toux. Cooper and Henry may be the “best” striker pairing in the league, but they are not worth the sum of their parts.
It’s there for the taking but they need to tighten up the back and as you say get an identity.
Boy I hope the Letoux from the end of last season shows up. 8 goals & 1 assist over the last 10 games per MLS Soccer look back at end last yr. He did send in the cross to Dax before Cahill buried the 2nd goal. That being said no doubt Cooper starts.
I’ve watched the replay 8 times on the 2nd goal – sounds like the ref blows the whistle as Cahill shoots . I think he was whistling the handball but saw the ball go in and allowed it. Shouldn’t do that per the rules but looks like that’s what he did. I don’t think it made a difference for Portlands reaction. Ricketts was going the other way to cover Dax shot. Best look is 2nd from behind.
