During the Cosmos’ 3-0 romp of Miami, Shep Messing asked a very important question:

“Are the New York Cosmos this good, or are Miami FC this bad?”

He literally read my mind the moment he said that.

Yes, the Cosmos should be credited for their dominant win. However, Miami FC are clearly a side in trouble — so much so that head coach Alessandro Nesta told media he may have simply put the wrong players together for their inaugural season.

Ya, that should boost confidence in the locker room.

Miami FC is vital to the NASL’s growth plans. However, through five matches this year, the story with Miami has hardly been an inspirational tale. Conceding late, lackluster attendance and a general malaise about the club have stifled any gains from being “the first pro soccer club in Miami.”

The season is still young. Miami can turn it around. However, it will take nothing short of a miracle before we can call this inaugural year a success.
