Junior Flemmings’ second half goal was the deciding factor in New York Red Bull II’s 1-0 road win over Toronto FC II. It is New York’s fourth win in a row and 10th road win of the season, a league best.

As anticipated, New York Red Bull II controlled possession throughout most of the game with Toronto sitting back on the counter. New York had several opportunities in the first half but couldn’t find the right combination to go ahead. Derrick Etienne Jr., Justin Bilyeu and Tyler Adams returned to the starting line-up to add significant strength to the team after a quick turnaround from Friday.

The goal came in the second half when a corner kick in the 64th minute rattled around in the box before finding the feet of Junior Flemmings. It is the Jamaican’s seventh goal of the campaign, continuing his hot streak. For Ryan Meara, it is his nineth shutout of the season – a league high.

The win gives NYRB II a six point lead over Louisville City FC with a game still in hand.

Next up is another quick turnaround for New York as they play FC Cincinnati as part of a doubleheader with the MLS side New York Red Bulls on Sunday afternoon.
