It didn’t take long for former New York Red Bull midfielder Dane Richards to find a new club.

EoS has learned that the speedy Jamaican international will be moving a bit closer to home, joining NASL expansion side, Miami FC. He will be unveiled with a host of other players during a club press conference at 6 P.M. on Thursday afternoon.

Richards, 31, completed a loan deal with Indy Eleven from the New York Red Bulls this past October. New York did not pick up his option for 2016. Richards featured in 12 matches for the Red Bulls this season before moving to Indy, where he appeared in 15 matches, scoring three goals as a converted forward.

The Montego Bay native made his name as a professional with the Red Bull organization. He was drafted out of Clemson University in 2007 and remained in New York for over five-and-a-half seasons, earning 147 MLS regular season appearances and tallying 21 goals and 26 assists during his first stint with the club.

Richards joins former Vancouver Whitecaps defender Brad Rusin among the freshman class of Miami FC players.

Miami FC takes the pitch this coming April.

Dane was the worst signing of the season, by far. He’s no longer an MLS-quality player. Not sad to see him go, but his contributions throughout his RBNY career are appreciated.
