Frank Lampard is looking for his next move.

The 38-year old midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the week after New York City FC declined to offer him a new contract.

Lampard told Soccer AM that he does have offers on the table but would prefer an opportunity to return to Chelsea as a player. There were unconfirmed reports of Chelsea offering him a coaching role but Lampard said he is still interested in playing. He said he would be open to accepting that coaching offer as well.

“I am very relaxed about it, which is a nice place to be,” Lampard said. “I’m not kind of eager that the end of my career is coming and thinking, ‘What’s going to happen now?’ I’m relaxed and if the right thing comes, then I’ll take it. Obviously Chelsea, I would love that, but it doesn’t always work that way.”I’ve taken this Christmas to enjoy family, a couple of beers and an extra turkey and I’ll make a decision in January whether I carry on playing – I have a few options – or finish and move on to whatever the next thing will be.”

Lampard reportedly has offers from Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion of The Championship on his table. He made 19 appearances for NYCFC last season scoring 12 goals.
