Things haven’t gotten any easier for Luke Rodgers since visa issues forced him out of the New York Red Bulls. For the third time in two years, “The Tank” is a man without club.
The diminutive striker has left Shrewsbury Town by mutual consent.
“The club would like to thank Luke for his contribution during his second spell here and wish him well for the future,” read a Shrewsbury statement.
He began his professional career with the Shrews where he managed to notch 65 goals in 176 appearances but his second stint with the club fell far short from the first. On loan from his club side Portsmouth, Rodgers played well enough for Shrewsbury to sign him to a year contract. Things began to sour as the 31 year old forward scored twice in 15 appearances before being relegated to the club’s reserve side by boss Graham Turner.
EoS spoke with Rodgers back in December where he revealed his visa status was still being reviewed. He could not be reached at the time of this report for a further update.
