Guzan, Altidore, Bradley highlight US National Team World Cup Qualifying Roster

A red-hot Jozy Altidore leads Jurgen Klinsmann’s 23 man World Cup Qualifying roster that includes presumed starting keeper Brad Guzan, Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley and a returning DeMarcus Beasley.

The group faces stiff competition this month when they face CONCACAF powerhouse Mexico and Costa Rica.

Major League Soccer is well represented comprising nearly 40% of the team’s roster (9 of 23), and the majority of the their defensive options (4 of 6). Eddie Johnson continues his path back to the international stage with yet another call-up.

Former MLS winger Brek Shea has been awarded for his move abroad with a call up to the team’s camp while Joe Corona has also been summoned to participate.

Edgar Castillo (facial fractures), Timmy Chandler (hamstring), Steve Cherundolo (knee), Tim Howard (back), Fabian Johnson (hip), Jonathan Spector (ankle), Jose Torres (hamstring) and Danny Williams (illness) were not selected due to injury issues.
