Young Chicago playmaker Harry Shipp has been traded to the Montreal Impact in exchange for allocation money.

Shipp has 10 goals and 14 assists in two seasons for the Fire, who have struggled nonetheless. Chicago is seeking a reboot under Nelson Rodriguez and new head coach Veljko Paunovic, and Shipp was expected to be a key part of the team moving forward. He now joins a Montreal team looking to make the most of Didier Drogba’s time with the club.

Shipp, 24, grew up in Illinois and played for the Fire’s academy before going to college at Notre Dame. The Fire kept him out of the draft and signed him as a homegrown player prior to the 2014 season.

Just saw his good bye letter to Chicago. I wish every athlete had that same passion for their team and fans.
