If New York City FC hope to end their four game winless streak, they will have to do it without several star players.

Team captain David Villa highlights a group of four NYCFC players who are questionable — or altogether out — for Sunday’s home encounter against struggling Western Conference side, Portland Timbers.

Villa, 33, came off at the half of NYCFC’s draw against the Philadelphia Union.  Initially, Villa was suspected to have suffered a recurrence of his adductor issues. Instead, it was a hamstring that took him out of the match.

He is listed questionable for Sunday.

Similarly, defender Jason Hernandez was taken out at the half on Thursday. A calf strain during the first half now rules Hernandez out for the Portland encounter.  This will open up the opportunity for Kwame Watson-Siriboe, or perhaps, Andres Mendoza, to earn starting minutes.

After a pair of difficult outings on his return from viral pericarditis, defender Josh Williams is now questionable for Sunday’s match with an adductor strain.  The same can be said for Manchester City loanee, Shay Facey, who is also questionable with a similar injury.

For all of their issues this season, the floundering Timbers (1-2-3, tied for last in the West) have no new injuries to report. However, they have been without star players Diego Valeri and Will Johnson throughout the 2015 campaign; a pair of influential contributors in the Portland attack.
