The New York Cosmos may be two games into their 2015 campaign, but the reserve team squad is just beginning to come together.

On Wednesday, the Cosmos announced the signings of Ruben Bover Izquierdo, Cristhian Hernandez and John Neeskens, all of whom will be subsequently loaned to the Cosmos B team. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Representing the first three signings for the Cosmos B team, all three players bring MLS experience to a side that will play in National Premier Soccer League, the fourth-tier on the American soccer pyramid.

“This is an exciting time for the Club,” Cosmos B head coach Alecko Eskandarian said. “Bover, Hernandez, and Neeskens are the first to be announced as part of the Cosmos B squad and we will finalize the rest of the team over the next week or so.”

Bover, a 22-year-old midfielder from Spain, spent time in the English third division with Charlton Athletic FC, and most recently with the New York Red Bulls playing alongside the likes of Thierry Henry and Tim Cahill.

The son of former New York Cosmos player Johan Neeskens, John Neeskens, 21, has played in Spain’s third division with CF Badalona and UE Sant Andreu. The defender then joined MLS side Colorado Rapids for a season in 2014.

Hernandez, 21, plied his trade with the Philadelphia Union in 2012 before earning a training stint with La Liga side Real Sociedad for during the MLS off-season. Previously, the midfielder made 24 appearances for the LA Galaxy U15/U16 team.

All three signings will have the opportunity to earn minutes in competitive matches while working towards earning first-team minutes.

“These players are the first to join the Cosmos B side,” said New York Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese. “Like all Cosmos B players they will be constantly evaluated and if appropriate they will be considered to be part of the first team at any time.”

The Cosmos B squad is set to kick off their inaugural season against the Brooklyn Italians on May 2, following the first team’s matchup with Ottawa Fury at MCU Park.

I like the signings and the fact the Cosmos have a B-side, but they expect to have a full roster and be ready to play a competitive game in less than a month? That seems highly optimistic.

Its the NPSL they are their to develop these young guys not be the best team in the league. Plus all three of these guys have experience in the MLS, USL, and the third division in Spain. They WILL still be one of the top teams on the field in the NPSL

So MLS is d1, NASL d2, USL d3 and NPSL d4.
Then USL belongs to MLS and NPSL to NASL.
Can somebody call the US federation.

I can only write a letter of my displeasement (I made the word up, but just go with it). It will be a long and professional letter that will cut to the point in the first sentence.

Soccer in the US is like virgin in high school. Who is hot, who is not and who’s the easy one and the hard one.
