    great video very enjoyable.

  • Cosmo

If cosmos ever join MLS, the cosmos would be the most popular team from MLS and cosmos is the only team from USA that has global recognition.
These would be MLS most popular teams if cosmos and red bull would rebrand.
    1. Ny cosmos
    2. Nycfc
    3. If red bull rebrand to NY empire sc/sc
    4. LA Galaxy
    5. Miami
    6. LAFC
    7. Seattle
    8.? Timbers
    9. ? Toronto
    10. ? Dc united

    • slowleftarm

As usual, El Paso, total nonsense. Old timers may remember the old Cosmos that went out of business thirty years ago but Cosmos do not have “global recognition” today. No one cares. Now their fans celebrate over the possibility of signing injured hacks like Samaras. The days of Pele et al are long gone.

      • Cosmo

U love El Paso and hate cosmos .
        Funny dude

    • Tom

Cosmos are never going to Mls, why do people still dream of such foolishness. Mls has its single entity business model and won’t change it, Cosmos won’t go down to the level of a Mc Franchise and lose its iconic assets and ownership of its players etc and be subjected to the rules that change on the fly and by the flip of a coin in Mls.

  • William

and the most authentic as well.

  • Alanis

A little TOO iconic, don’t ya think

  • William

NY empire ahhaahahahahahahahahahahaahaha 15th name is 15 years ahahahahahahahahahaa

  • stop playing with my mind !!!!

Like it or not , the cosmos are the most recognizable team from the USA and one of the world. Sorry haters , it’s just the truth

    • slowleftarm

Unfortunately just saying something over and over again doesn’t make it true.

      • William

right that applies to 99.999999% of your comments.

    • Brad

Sorry. Enough with the term ‘haters’. Sounds childish. Can people disagree and that’s it?!
Unfortunately they are not recognized hardly at all,yet alone the ‘most’. They are considerably
below the WNBA. No papers,no tv,no radio,no media,no stadium. Add it up and it equals
      tumbleweed.

      • Tom

Papers : do people still read them?
TV : they do have it
        Media : ESPN 3
Stadium : coming and stadium is the temporary problem holding them back locally as the club admits.

        • Anonymous

          The stadium is not “coming”

Not even close. 10 year minimum

      • Tom

WNBA outdraws the Mls on TV ratings so Mls is below them there.

        • slowleftarm

Assuming that’s even true, MLS gets $90m a year in tv money while NASl gets $0. Because they aren’t on TV.

          • ty

That money is nothing compared to MLS looses not to mention the league is expanding so that TV money is getting divided a lot more.

            • slowleftarm

Interesting that you would characterize $90m a year as “nothing” when NASL is literally getting “nothing” (i.e. $0) in TV revenue. This is the thing with NASL “bots” – they trash MLS but whatever negative things they can say about MLS go double for NASL.

              • ty

90 Million isn’t very much. I doubt that’s enough money for a full 30 team league. The Deal runs until 2022. No word on Salary caps. That 90 million is to cover losses. The NBA’s deal is 24 Billion. So the MLS is .0375% of the NBA yet they claim it’s more popular via attendance. The NBA caps are going up but the MLS aren’t sounds fishy.

                • slowleftarm

The $24 billion NBA deal is over 9 years so $2.66 billion a year. That’s a lot more than MLS but guess what? Basketball is more popular in the US than soccer, at least right now. I’ve never heard anyone say MLS is more popular although it is true that average per game attendance is higher in MLS.

In any event that’s $90m more than NASL, despite the world famous global brand known as Hempstead Cosmos, so I don’t know what your point is.

                  • William

actually they are world famous most people don’t even know what a Metrostar umm red bull is ? so delusional about your own team really squirt.

                    • slowleftarm

Man United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich – those are world famous teams. And deservedly so. Hempstead Cosmos? Not so much.

                    • ty

I’m not to worried about being Famous. Just so long as we are not associated with that Mickey Mouse operation called the MLS. Cosmos played in cuba. We have Pele as our ambassador. I like the direction we’re going. I wouldn’t worry about an energy drink or a not so new franchise that will be forgotten about.

                    • slowleftarm

                      LOL….Cosmos played in Cuba. Wow!

  • Cosmo

Cosmos would do wonders for MLS, but they have about 5 years or less to make the jump.
Nycfc will keep growing and become the new cosmos of MLS and overcome galaxy as MLS most popular team in the US and outside the US.
Also if red bull ever rebrand, that will be the last nail in the coffin for cosmos. Many would jump in their boat if red bull rebrand, it’s true.
But if you ask me if ny can support 3 MLS teams, yes and LA as well.
Another team that can become very popular is Seattle sounders but they need their own stadium and win MLS cups.

  • Edwin

Well a tourist from England ask me a week ago, where can she buy a NY Cosmos for her husband the other day.

  • jimmy j

wow, add this tourist from England to the Cubans who saw 1 game, to the guy in Sweden and Brazil who “know” about the Cosmos – it all doesn’t mean sh*t.

If the brand was so iconic and well known they would get more than 4000 fans to a game, and would be on real tv, and get real media coverage – as of now they get none and play in a league that lost 7 straight games to 3rd Div. USL teams.

  • Kevin

Either way the video was a nice little marketing thing for the cosmos. I like the old videos of the great players and I always have to hope. Lets win this weekend. Lets get a plan B on a stadium site. Go Cosmos

    • ty

Honestly I want the Belmont site to work. It’s so underrated IMO. I think it’s the best any club will have to getting a proper stadium in NYC even if part of it is in Long Island.

  • William

People can down the Cosmos or what they are attempting to do but they are here to stay. The academy has been setup forming partnerships with local soccer clubs, a reserve side Cosmo B has been developed and has done excellent, since the reboot they are a consistently excellent team with some major stars added along the way, Gio Savarese is an highly regarded coach that is motivated to develop and coach this soccer team well into the future and has many player connections to keep building. The stadium issue is a bump in the road and as far as the attendance issue they have enough of a core fanbase to build from.

    • MTF

Oh, because they have an academy, a B side and relationship with youth soccer organizations they are here to stay. Businesses go bankrupt and out of business all the time. If the ownership decides to quit pouring good money after bad, if there’s no stadium progress in the next year or so, if attendance dwindles any more…all of these things could lead to a pulling of the plug. Ever hear of Enron? Do you recall how much they were regaled in the financial media? The smartest guys in the room. Haven’t seen them lately. Personally, I don’t support the Cosmos but I have attended a few matches and the level of soccer is good. They need to get out of Hofstra. Assuming Belmont falls through they need to move quickly to find a location in Brooklyn, Queens or LI where they can build a similarly sized venue (11,000) that could be expanded. Too bad they couldn’t get in on the Nassau Coliseum property redevelopment. In the meantime they’d be better off playing at MCU on the grass in Brooklyn than Hofstra.

      • William

I said I believe they are laying a very good foundation so I believe the chances are in their favor that they are here to stay. Relax guy I know u are like the gotcha guy the world is coming to an end yet with the 8 billion people in the world u are the only one with the answers to save us all.

      • ty

Where’s NYFC playing? Yeah I thought so. It’s a money making scheme for Yankee stadium. NYFC will be there forever. I rather be at hofstra than that Joke of pitch the NY Yankees play on. The MLS is getting beat by everything in ratings. It’s a league that The Cosmos should stay away from because it’s a pyramid scheme. They make the money of the expansion fees being 100 million. Then you end up with Chivas changing to LAFC and Miami Mutiny to Beckham united.

        • slowleftarm

You would rather be a college lacrosse stadium than temporarily playing at one of the most famous stadiums in the country and drawing 30k a year? Haha, yeah sure you would. NYCFC deserves some criticism but not from Cosmos fans.

  • William

its funny how such a positive video about the Cosmos has turned into something so negative. SOOOOOO PSYCHED FOR TOMORROW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
