USWNT To Be Honored With Ticker Tape Parade In NYC

The US Women’s National Team’s World Cup victory will be celebrated this Friday with a ticker tape parade in downtown Manhattan.

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio organized the parade quickly after a Change.Org petition and request from Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer. This year’s victory marks the third World Cup title for the US Women’s National Team; the last time the US won the tournament was in 1999.

The USWNT’s parade down the Canyon of Heroes is the first held in honor of female athletes since 1960, when Olympic figure skating gold medalist Carol Heiss Jenkins was honored.

The parade will begin this Friday, July 10th, at 11am in Manhattan. The parade will run along the Canyon of Heroes, beginning at Bowling Green and running up Broadway to City Hall Park.. See below for a map the route:
