After months of speculation, it is safe to say that Julian Green will be a part of Bayern Munich’s first team squad this season.

An announcement on Bayern Munich‘s twitter page has released the Bundesliga Champions’ squad for the upcoming 2016/17 season. Typically, these updates announce the inevitable roster that fans expect. However, there are a few unexpected additions this time, including United States International Julian Green.

Following the departure of Pep Guardiola, Italian coaching legend Carlo Ancelotti took control of the helm in Munich, adding and selling a few pieces in order to reshape his newly acquired squad to his liking. One player that was hanging in the balance of leaving or staying was USA prodigy Julian Green. Upon Ancelotti’s arrival, Green spent his time moving up and down between Bayern’s first and second team, rarely given first team chances.

Once at the club, many asked Ancelotti what he considered on doing with the 21-year-old Tampa Bay native, but the Italian manager remained quiet on the matter. It was until this summer’s ICC tournament that many would rethink Green’s position within the reigning Bundesliga Champions.

Green’s hat trick performance against Inter changed his prospects. “He scored three goals, and it was a very good performance,” Ancelotti said. “Julian was ready to finish.”
