Sky Blue FC announced on Friday that midfielder Sarah Killion will join Adelaide United of the Australian W-League for the upcoming season. The W-League season opening comes in October after the NWSL season closes, which makes the Australian league a viable option for many NWSL players.

Killion, whose 2015 season with Sky Blue FC was her first as a professional, came from UCLA with nine goals and twelve assists throughout her senior season. She played for the United States U-20 2012 world champion side, the U-23 team that won the 2013 Four Nations Championship, and received a senior national team camp call-up in 2014.

Sky Blue FC’s Head Coach Jim Gabarra looks on Killion’s loan positively; “We are happy to see Sarah take another step in her development by joining Adelaide United… The Australian League has always been a good fit for our league here in the United States. In addition to its high level of play, it fits well with our offseason window in that players can gain additional game experience but also have enough time in between for recovery and regeneration.”

Killion will be available for NWSL play in 2016, as the W-League season concludes in January.
