For the second time since his arrival with Manchester City, Frank Lampard has picked up a knock.

The former Chelsea man and future New York City FC midfielder came off in the 20th minute of City’s 2-0 friendly victory over Hamburg at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

According to City boss Manuel Pellegrini, Lampard was “injured in the warm up” prior to the match and was subbed out for Scott Sinclair as a “precautionary” move 20 minutes into their friendly.  According to the Mirror, Lampard may have injured his hip, though the club has yet to confirm the report.

A lingering quad strain derailed Lampard early in his City stay, forcing him off the field for nearly a month. Aside from the Mirror’s report, there is no word yet on the severity of his current injury nor the nature of the knock.

Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko scored for City in the shutout win over Hamburg.
