Maxime Chanot did not take part in training sessions with New York City FC earlier this week — and now we know why.

After missing practice on Tuesday, head coach Patrick Vieira assured, “He is OK. He was training yesterday and felt his back a little bit, but should be in training (Wednesday).”

Instead, NYCFC took to Twitter late Friday afternoon, announcing Chanot would not be available for selection against FC Dallas this weekend due to a herniated disk.

No timetable was set for Chanot’s recovery and there is no word on they severity of the injury. However, the Mayfield Clinic suggests that “most” people afflicted with a herniated disc take up to six weeks recovery time. Take that with a grain of salt.

Chanot has made four starts in five appearances with NYCFC this season. He played 90 minutes against DC United two weeks ago but did not appear in the team’s loss against the New England Revolution this weekend.

Chanot will likely be replaced by Jefferson Mena. The Colombian defender spoke to EoS this week about his recent struggles, but is confident in a rebound performance come this weekend’s clash against FC Dallas.
