Hull City got the brightest of starts from two debutants. However, a Curtis Davies own goal cancelled out what would have been a win for the Tigers.

Diafra Sakho picked up a ball in the Hull City box from a Stewart Downing pass hit low on frame. Hull’s goalkeeper Allan McGregor possibly got a hand to the shot, but it came off of Davies and went over the line.

It gave both clubs a share of the points, but certainly spoiled Hull’s debutant’s dynamic display.

The Tigers took the lead in the 39th minute after a fine header by Abel Hernandez. He leapt well to head home an Ahmed Elmohamady cross. Shortly after the halftime break Enner Valencia leveled the match at 1-1 with a superb strike. In his first league start, Valencia rifled the ball from the top of the box after Michael Dawson failed to adequately close him down into the top corner leaving Tigers’ shot stopper McGregor absolutely no chance to stop it.

At the time, Mohamed Diame restored the lead to Hull City after beating Cheikou Kouyate and racing into the West Ham box. His shot to the far post beat Adrian to score against his former team. The error for the Hammers started with a poor throw-in by Aaron Cresswell.
