imagesThe Jacksonville Armada picked up another point and maintained their unblemished goals-against mark through three games in Saturday’s 0-0 draw against visiting San Francisco in Week 4 games of the North American Soccer League’s Spring Season.

In the league’s only other game during an abbreviated Easter week schedule, North Carolina notched its first victory of the year in a 3-1 decision against visiting FC Edmonton. All eight league teams will be in action next weekend.

Jacksonville 0, San Francisco 0

The league-operated Armada (2-0-1, 7 points) and the expansion Deltas (1-0-2, 5 points) split the points at Hodges Stadium. There were few scoring chances. Jacksonville’s Jack Blake had perhaps the best look at goal in the opening half, striking a half-volley in the 22nd minute that dipped over the crossbar.

Blake nearly won the game for Jacksonville, coming inches away from hitting the winner in the 89th minute. His low effort from the top of the box scooted just wide of the net.

North Carolina 3, Edmonton 1

Midfielders Lance Laing and Nazmi Albadawi, and striker Matt Fondy each scored for North Carolina (1-1-1, 4 points) and kept visiting Edmonton (0-3-0, 0 points) winless at Sahlen’s Stadium on Saturday night.

Laing put NCFC in front four minutes into the game. Fondy drew a foul about five yards outside the penalty area before Laing, a Jamaican international, curled a free kick into the top corner. The hosts doubled the lead as Albadawi capped a 30-yard run with a blast to the bottom corner past goalkeeper Chris Konopka.

After Fondy made it 3-0 in the 58th minute, Tomi Ameobi scored the Eddies’ first goal of the 2017 season.
