Many more eyes will be on the New York Cosmos this season.

ONE World Sports (OWS) has entered into a distribution agreement with SNY – the official TV home of the New York Mets and Jets – to broadcast all seven of the team’s home games this season with JP Dellacamera and Janusz Michallik calling the action.

SNY reaches 13 million homes in the New York/Tri-State area through every major local cable provider. SNY’s broadcasts will begin this weekend as the Cosmos host the Fort Lauderdale Strikers at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium.

“This is another important step in the reboot of our club,” Cosmos Chief Operating Officer Erik Stover said. “ONE World Sports has proven to be a great partner thus far and we know their production will be of the highest level. Now, adding SNY to our broadcast family helps us attain one of our main goals, which is reaching more of our fans in the tri-state area.”

Starting August 11th at 9pm, SNY will also showcase five episodes of “Cosmos Classics;” an OWS series that highlights some of the team’s most memorable and historical games. The first episode will feature a July 16, 1976 match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The second (8/16) will highlight Barcelona v. Cosmos from May 28, 1984.

“The Cosmos have a rich and colorful history among New York area sports fans,” said Gary Morgenstern, Senior Vice President of Programming for SNY. “We are excited to be partnering with the club during the rebirth of the franchise, and look forward to providing both new and long-time fans with a comprehensive package of games from the current season, as well as classic games from the 1970’s and 80’s.”

  • Hm. Silverbacks has a Mets game at that time. I am going to guess Minnesota and Rowdies seemed to be delayed due to possible overrun of Mets games that starts at 4:10. No idea about Edmonton. Still, all games should be available via NASL on-line stream, so watching these games should not be a problem regardless.

    • I am hoping the TV deals to nix any of the online games as that’s how I watch the Cosmos.

  • So far almost everything the new Cosmos are doing seems to be right. The one exception was the choice to have cheerleaders, but we’ll see how that works out. I don’t think they’ll have any problem packing the stadium though, or reaching far and wide for fans. —I’m in Nevada and far too young to have watched the original Cosmos.
