New York Red Bulls LB Roy Miller Out 2-3 Weeks

New York Red Bulls starting left back Roy Miller picked up a leg injury during the Costa Rica v. Ecuador match this weekend which will force him out of Saturday’s Vancouver Whitecaps clash.

The news came via MSG reporter Tina Cervasio’s twitter, where she revealed the leftback had suffered a right adductor strain that will require 2-3 weeks of recovery time.

Roy Miller has become one of the most steady players on the Red Bulls defense, featuring in every single regular season game. In that time, he has played the full 90 in all but one of his appearances where he was subbed out in the 89th.

A quick look at the Red Bulls depth chart shows that Miller is the only natural left back on the team. This will begin a mad scramble to find a short term fill in for the Costa Rican international that could include options from Carlos Mendes and Jan Gunnar Solli to the versatile Joel Lindpere and the untested Mike Jones.

How big of a blow is this to the Red Bulls? Share your thoughts after the jump.

Will there ever be a week that goes by where RBNY ONLY has good news? What a shitty season.

    • It’s an interesting season … I will give you that.

  • I say try Ream out at LB. Mendes and Marquez at CB. Maybe Ream and Marquez will do better if they are not right next to each other. Albright stays at RB. Midfield should be Lindpere, McCarty, Auvray, Solli. Henry and Richards up front.

I don’t want Ream to get slotted there permanently but I don’t want to see Ballouchy on the filed, ever again.

Please go with a tested MLS defender and leave a ‘Mike Jones’ experiment for another season…thanks
